There are always things that can go wrong during your travel. From your flight being late, losing luggage or getting sick, getting into an accident being robbed, and so on. Especially, when you go for adventure, different activities, and transportation. And the worst thing is when this happens far from home. I wish that no one would experience it, but sh*t happens. And it’s better to be safe than sorry. Travel Health Insurance is an essential part of planning any trip with Ultimate Travel Guide, whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally.

For me, it’s a rule. If I go to travel, health insurance is a must. The main point

First, before buying any travel health insurance

check what offers your bank/credit card. In many cases, you already might have some travel insurance involved. Just check the terms. If you need to buy tickets/accommodation from that business card or not, etc. If you do any extreme or winter/water sports, check if it’s covered as well.

I personally useĀ forĀ EUR 42/month (can have a daily option) SafetyWing travel insurance. That gives me peace of mind. It has a $250 deductible, meaning first $250 for most of the expenses you need to cover yourself, and everything above $250 will be covered by Insurance with $250 000 max limit. That works for me, as the goal of the insurance is to cover expenses in case something serious would happen.

My experience with SafetyWing

I had 2 claims, and both of them got covered. Moreover, it wasn’t even the case for the $250 deductible.

I was robbed in Costa Rica in the hotel, my passport happened to be stolen. So I missed my flight. Travel Health Insurance covered the first 2 days of my stay and expenses related to renewing my passport.

The second claim was health-related, had to visit a doctor and spent over $350. Got back $100+ that was above $250 deductibles after filing the claim.

World of Nomads insurance – another option

World Nomads is another Travel Health Insurance company that provides coverage for a variety of risks that travelers may face while abroad designed for digital nomads.

Some of the key coverage areas offered by World Nomads include:

  • Medical expenses: This coverage helps pay for medical treatment in the event of an illness or injury while traveling. This can include emergency medical treatment, hospital stays, and transportation to a medical facility.

  • Trip cancellation and interruption: This coverage reimburses you for the cost of your trip if you have to cancel or cut it short due to a covered reason, such as a sudden illness or the death of a close relative.

  • Baggage and personal effects: This coverage helps pay for the cost of replacing or repairing lost, stolen, or damaged baggage and personal belongings while traveling.

  • Personal liability: This coverage provides protection in the event that you are held liable for causing injury or property damage to another person while traveling.

  • Adventure sports: This coverage provides protection for activities such as skiing, rock climbing, and scuba diving.

It’s worth noting that coverage varies depending on the policy you choose, so it’s important to carefully review the terms and conditions before purchasing a policy.
